Students at our faculty graduate after completing a five-year education program covering both basic and clinical dentistry. The faculty aims to educate highly qualified dentists who adhere to ethical principles and possess the knowledge and skills required to carry out al activities related to the protection and treatment of oral and dental health at the highest level. The program covers al practical and theoretical aspects of dentistry and aims to provide graduates with the necessary technical skills and professional competencies. Our graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to diagnose and treat diseases and developmental disorders affecting the teeth and surrounding tissues. Courses in the curriculum are offered on a semester basis and consist of theoretical instruction, practical training and clinical practice. The faculty offers both Turkish and English programs. Courses in the first, second and third years provide students with knowledge in the fields of basic medicine and dentistry, while courses in the fourth and fifth years focus on developing the knowledge, skills and competencies required for the dental profession. The fourth and fifth years are clinical internship years. The internship system has been designed with a multidisciplinary approach. Through this system, our students actively participate in every stage of patient treatment, from the initial examination to the completion of treatment, and graduate with the professional experience required in dentistry.
Career Opportunities
Dentists, who work to protect public health, achieve healthcare objectives and improve quality of life, are an integral part of the healthcare system. They diagnose and treat oral and dental health problems. Dentists may be employed in public and university hospitals, private hospitals, dental prosthesis laboratories, private clinics, oral and dental health centers and dental hospitals. They may also establish and operate their own private practices. Dentists who wish to pursue an academic career may continue their postgraduate education and work at universities.
About the Courses
The Undergraduate Dentistry Program offers undergraduate education and training through a broad and comprehensive curriculum prepared in accordance with the directives of the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) and the Bologna criteria. The program aims to educate dentists who are equipped with theoretical knowledge, practical skills and professional attitudes. In addition to basic medical education, the Dentistry Program covers the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the oral cavity and surrounding tissues. Dentistry education prioritizes the development of individuals who comply with ethical principles, follow current scientific developments and regard serving society as a professional responsibility.
During the first two years of professional education, students take basic medical and dental courses as well as preclinical vocational courses designed to develop their professional skills. Before beginning clinical practice, students are introduced to virtual reality technology and receive training using haptic simulators in preparation for patient treatment.
The fourth and fifth years primarily focus on clinical practice, while students also continue to take professional dentistry courses and medical courses.
The Undergraduate Dentistry Program includes the following courses: Dental Anatomy and Physiology, History of Dentistry, Prosthodontics I, Restorative Dentistry I, Endodontics I, Head and Neck Anatomy, Anatomy II, Dental Anesthesia, Pharmacology, Pathology, Prosthodontics II, Restorative Dentistry II, Endodontics II, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology I, Periodontology I, Orthodontics I, Pediatric Dentistry I, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery I, Occlusion and the Temporomandibular Joint, Prosthodontics III, Restorative Dentistry III, Preventive Dentistry and Oral Diseases, Internal Medicine, Orthodontics II, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery II, Periodontology II, Otorhinolaryngology, Psychology, Neurology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, First Aid and Emergency Care, Forensic Medicine, Implantology, Community Oral and Dental Health, Ethics and Deontology in Dentistry.
Clinical practice is provided in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Periodontology, Prosthodontics, Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. In addition, the program aims to provide interdisciplinary education through various elective courses offered throughout the undergraduate program. Students who complete the five-year education program, including multidisciplinary clinical practice, are entitled to receive the professional title of Dentist.
